The representatives of both companies concluded an agreement for the acquisition of 100% shares in Trec Nutrition by Aflofarm. Thus, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in Poland takes control of a renowned manufacturer of sport nutrition products. The transaction had already been approved by the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection.

The deal marks a new milestone in Aflofarm’s history. It is for the first time that we are reaching out for outside support. The acquisition of Trec opens up plenty of opportunities to develop our portfolio of products for athletes, says Jacek Furman,

President of the Management Board at Aflofarm Farmacja Polska. We cannot rule out further acquisitions in the broadly defined health industry, he Concludes.   

The President of Aflofarm has also stressed that the collaboration between the companies will be largely based on the continuation of the already existing activities: We see this merger as an opportunity to share knowledge and experience and to expand our production and marketing capacities. We also intend to keep the existing brands, including Formotiva, Beltor and Better Choice, he adds.  

With this transaction, Trec Nutrition gains a major partner with strong pharmaceutical, marketing and R&D capabilities. During several months of productive negotiations we were able to get to know each other well. I am convinced that teaming up with a strong investor like Aflofarm is a powerful catalyst for further development, says Lech Kłoczko, founder of Trec Nutrition.  

New President of the Management Board at Trec Nutrition

With the deal sealed, Trec Nutrition named Mr. Jaromir Sroga as new President of the Management Board. Mr. Sroga has over twenty years of experience in managing different brands and companies of large media groups. He has worked as Advertising Director and then as member of the Management Board at Eurozet group which owns large media brands including Radio Zet, Zet Chilli, Zet Gold, Antyradio and Radio Plus. From 2015 he also served as President of the Management board at Maxus Polska – a company owned by GroupM/WPP, the world’s largest advertising holding. In Collaboration with WPP he participated in a number of major business projects, including merger of two large media houses (MEC and Maxus) into Wavemaker brand.

He now replaces Mr Lech Kłoczko – founder of Trec Nutrition – as President of the Management Board.  

Joining forces for exports

Boosting exports is an important aspect of cooperation between Aflofarm and Trec Nutrition. In this respect, the competences of both companies can generate valuable synergy for successful outcomes.

We will continue our current efforts in this area, but we will also leverage our strength and share experience to find new markets and business opportunities outside Poland. We are set for a new round of meetings, sharing experience between pharmaceutical and sports nutrition industries, possibly meeting with prospective international Clients, says Paweł Tomczak, International Market Director at Aflofarm. 

Trec Nutrition has an extensive collaboration with distributors from over 40 countries worldwide, including Great Britain, Russia and Far East.

Further development of the Formotiva brand

Aflofarm had already been present on the sports nutrition market through Formotiva – an umbrella brand for athletes which was launched in 2015. The brand is endorsed by Joanna Jędrzejczyk, a well-known UFC champion and celebrity.

Formotiva is the first sports nutrition brand marketed by a pharmaceutical company and Trec is a well-recognized and respected brand among athletes. We are convinced that the close cooperation between our companies will enable us to extent our customer reach with Trec and Formotiva brands, says Piotr Kozakiewicz, Marketing Manager at Aflofarm.
